Fire Risk Prompts Fisker Automotive to Recall Plug-In Electric Karma

Posted on: Wednesday, January 11, 2012

Certain 2012 model year Fisker Karma passenger cars - produced from July 1, 2011 through November 3, 2011 - are being recalled by the company.

The reason for the recall is that certain hose clamps may have been positioned incorrectly within the high-voltage battery. In such cases there may be an increased risk of a coolant leak from the coolant hoses. Subsequently, coolant leaking into the battery compartment might cause an electrical short, possibly resulting in a fire.

Fisker will notify all effected owners, and a recall is expected to begin this month. Under the recall dealers will replace the part at no cost to the owner.

UPDATED: Fastener Supplier Profile Page Updates

Posted on: Thursday, December 22, 2011

Just a couple more changes to the fasteners suppliers profile page that we want to quickly inform you about.

  • Google Maps Integration
  • Social Media Integration (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)

With the Google Maps integration, a map now appears at the bottom of the supplier profile page to quickly give potential buyers an idea of where your company is located. A link also allows them to put in their current address to quickly map distances and driving directions (if needed).

The social media integration works on both the company level and the contacts level. Just login to your account to add links to your fastener company's Facebook and/or Twitter pages. If a link exists, the appropriate icon(s) will be displayed on your supplier profile page in the US Fastener Suppliers Directory. Likewise, you can do the same for any contacts associated with your fastener company. Simply enter the link to their public profile page on LinkedIn and an icon will appear in the contacts list. This will allow industry peers and counterparts at customer/supplier organizations to quickly get in touch with the appropriate contacts within your company.

Nissan Sentra 2010-2011 Vehicle Recall

Posted on: Wednesday, December 21, 2011

Nissan is recalling certain Sentra vehicles from the 2010-2011 model year. Specifically, those vehicles with an MR20 engine and manufactured between May 11, 2010 - May 22, 2010, or between July 8, 2010 - October 25, 2010.

The recall is due to a concerns with the terminal stud bolt. According to information, the zinc coating on the terminal stud bolt exceeded thickness specifications. This can cause a voltage drop that leads to difficulty stearing and damage to the engine control module (ECM). A vehicle could stall while in motion, leading to a high risk of crash.

A recall is expected to begin by January 23, 2012. Nissan will notify owners of all impacted vehicles. The postive battery terminal and cover will be replaced for free at Nissan dealers.
